Rare Red-Breasted Merganser Care

The past two weeks at Pine View have been especially bustling with activity as we navigated a period of critical care and attention to our migratory patients, alongside the ongoing care for our permanent educational ambassadors. The change in weather and challenging elements have brought an influx of birds of prey needing urgent rehabilitation.

Among these, we’ve had the unusual case of a red-breasted merganser, a species we don’t often see. After struggling with the recent cold temperatures, this merganser was brought to us needing immediate support. We are pleased to report that it has now stabilized and will soon be ready to return to the wild.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supports our mission, making it possible for us to continue saving lives and caring for these incredible creatures. Your contributions and involvement are crucial to our success.

Please remember, if you encounter an animal in need, always contact Pine View in advance before bringing them to our facility. We have specific protocols for admitting any species to ensure their best care and safety.

Thank you again to all our supporters for being part of our community and aiding in our efforts to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife!
