Baby Season is Here – and So Are Some New (Old) Faces

Baby season is officially in full swing at Pine View, and with it comes an exciting shift in our scope of care. For the past 15 years, Pine View has focused exclusively on large predatory mammals, birds of prey, and reptiles. Prior to that, we accepted nearly all species—excluding only raccoons and skunks.

Now, with the rejuvenation of Pine View South, the addition of new staff, and the guidance of our new Director, we’re cautiously expanding our intake capacity. On a case-by-case basis, we’re now accepting select additional species to better serve the community, support fellow rehab centers, and most importantly—help more wildlife in need.

That said, please remember: you must call ahead and make an appointment before bringing in any animal. We have strict protocols in place to prevent the spread of disease and ensure the safest environment for all patients. Never drop off wildlife without first speaking to our team.

Take a look at these young opossums currently in our care! They were orphaned after their mother was fatally hit by a car. Thanks to the protection of her muscular pouch, these resilient babies survived and have been with us for several weeks receiving the care they need.

Fun fact: Opossums are the only marsupial native to North America and serve as nature’s cleanup crew—eating pests, bugs, and even carrion to help keep our shared environment healthy.

Thank you for supporting Pine View as we continue to grow, evolve, and stay true to our mission of helping wildlife thrive.
