End-of-Year Release: Blanding’s Turtle Returns to the Wild

As the year winds down, we’re celebrating a few more successful releases—including this resilient Blanding’s Turtle who came to us after being struck by a vehicle.

When it was found, a well-meaning rescuer attempted to tape the fractured shell back together. While we always appreciate the public’s compassion, we don’t recommend attempting repairs at home, as improper care can lead to complications. Fortunately, our team was able to safely remove the tape and implement a more appropriate shell repair strategy.

After a steady recovery in our care, this turtle was successfully released back into the wild—a great way to close out the season.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our work and makes these second chances possible. And as always, if you find an injured wild animal, please call Pine View first before bringing it in—we have strict intake protocols in place for the health and safety of all wildlife in our care.
